As big a city as Chicago is, it is clear that pursuing TEDxChicago will only serve to fragment the TED brand and risk confusion among potential participants, sponsors, and the media across the Chicagoland area. This likely confusion will only serve to harm the hard earned momentum and success of TEDxMidwest.

In the spirit of TED, we have decided that instead of creating a second major TEDx event in Chicago it would be wiser to throw our full support behind the efforts of TEDxMidwest.

As such we encourage all of our volunteers, followers, and supporters to throw the full weight of their enthusiasm and love of TED behind the TEDxMidwest event.

A sincere and genuine thank you goes out to all of you who have followed and supported us. You’re awesome! Thanks! We look forward to seeing you all again as part of TEDxMidwest.
